Dr. Courtney Turner, Educational Audiologist for The Childrenās ČĖĘŽĀŅĀ× for Communication
and Development at The ČĖĘŽĀŅĀ×, has been elected as the
2022 President-Elect and 2023 President of the Mississippi Speech-Language-Hearing
Association.
āI am honored and thrilled to have been elected. I look forward to working with our board to promote ethical, evidence-based practices and to engage speech and hearing students and professionals throughout the state,ā said Dr. Turner.
Mississippi Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA) is the statewide professional organization for speech-language pathologists, audiologists, parents/caregivers, support personnel, and students. MSHA provides support for audiologists and speech-language pathologists, promotes ethical and professional standards, and advocates for legislation and regulation needed for members to provide quality care for those with communication, hearing, balance, and swallowing disorders.
āDr. Turner has been an integral part of our team for nearly seven years as our Educational Audiologist,ā said Sarah Myers, Director of The Childrenās ČĖĘŽĀŅĀ×. āThe work that she does in this role is quite literally life-changing for our little ones. She provides hearing assessments for infants and young children, hearing aid procurement and fittings, and caregiver and family training.ā
Added Myers: āWhen it comes to hearing loss, time is of the essence. Early screening and diagnosis can change the trajectory of the lives of little ones with hearing loss. Dr. Turnerās passion for what she does is evident for all who know her, and we canāt think of anyone more suited to this role as 2022 President-Elect and 2023 President of MSHA.ā
